Effective March 22, 2024, the test methodology for the Leptin assay referred to Esoterix Endocrinology has changed from Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) to Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). This change has resulted in updates to specimen collection and handling and reference ranges as follows:

 

Specimen Collection:  A fasting specimen is recommended (8-12 hour fast). Collect specimen in a red top or SST tube. Centrifuge and aliquot 1 mL of serum into a screw capped plastic vial within 45 minutes of collection. Freeze (preferred) or send at room temperature or refrigerated within 48 hours.

 

Reference Range: Adults (BMI=22): Male: 0.7 – 5.3 ng/mL, Female: 3.3 – 18.3 ng/mL. Please contact laboratory for other BMI reference ranges.
